The Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator (CNSOER) has launched the offshore wind Call for Information NS25-1R and Prequalification NS25-1R. Both processes are open for 90 days, from 16 October 2025 to 13 January 2026.
This follows guidance from the Canadian and Nova Scotia governments received on 18 September 2025, which formally started the process for a future Call for Bids in the Canada-Nova Scotia offshore area. Strategic Direction is a standard step in the offshore renewable energy land tenure process and comes before the Call for Information and Prequalification are opened.
Call for Information NS25-1R
CNSOER is inviting feedback from Indigenous groups, the fishing sector, industry, government, and the public on:
- Proposed Wind Energy Areas and possible parcel locations
- Draft evaluation criteria for the future Call for Bids
- Draft terms and conditions for a submerged land licence
Prequalification NS25-1R
The prequalification process is designed to identify companies that can participate in the next offshore wind Call for Bids. Companies must submit details online to show they meet the requirements. Only prequalified companies will be allowed to bid on offshore parcels.
