Clearway Energy Group has brought the 55 MW Dan’s Mountain Wind Farm online in Allegany County, Maryland, USA. The project comprises nine GE Vernova turbines and operates under a long-term power purchase agreement with Maryland-based Constellation.
Located on 2,800 acres of privately owned land, including former coal strip mining areas, the wind farm repurposes unused land for renewable energy generation. The development represents an investment of $180 million in Allegany County and will contribute $30 million in property taxes, supporting local schools, hospitals and infrastructure. Construction created over 100 union jobs in partnership with the Western Maryland Building and Construction Trades Council, and several local staff are now responsible for ongoing operations and maintenance.
