Fugro has completed land and marine site investigations for TenneT Germany to support the development of the LanWin1 and LanWin2 offshore grid connection projects. For LanWin2, the company carried out onshore and nearshore investigations to assist project planning.
Fugro’s GroundIQ service was used to conduct low-impact geophysical surveys, including electrical resistivity profiling and three-dimensional ambient noise tomography, a method that uses natural vibrations to map subsurface conditions without drilling. The geotechnical phase included borehole drilling and cone penetration testing at 15 sites, four of which were in intertidal areas. Fugro’s ARAN 250 jack-up platform was specially configured for shallow operations.
At sea, Fugro deployed four specialist vessels. The Fugro Frontier, Fugro Pioneer, and Scotia carried out geophysical, unexploded ordnance, and electromagnetic crossing surveys for both LanWin1 and LanWin2. The Fugro Resolve completed shallow geotechnical investigations using Blue Snake, Fugro’s integrated system combining cone penetration testing and sampling technology in a single operation.
All Geo-data from the land, nearshore, and offshore campaigns will be delivered to TenneT Germany through Virgeo, Fugro’s secure cloud-based data platform.
