Skyborn Renewables has confirmed the signing of a turbine supply agreement and a long-term service agreement with Siemens Gamesa for the Gennaker offshore wind project. The agreements cover the delivery and maintenance of 63 SG 14-236 wind turbines. Both contracts are based on a master supply agreement concluded by the two companies in June 2024 and remain conditional, subject to a notice to proceed and other conditions precedent.
Installation of the turbines is expected to begin in early 2028. The Gennaker site is located around 15 kilometres north of the Fischland-Darß-Zingst peninsula, within a designated priority zone for offshore wind in the coastal waters of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
Skyborn secured the initial construction permit for the 976.5 MW project in May 2019 and holds exclusive development rights for the area. Once operational, Gennaker is expected to supply renewable electricity to around one million people. Commissioning is planned for 2028.
