Bibby Line Group Chief Executive Jonathan Lewis welded an 1807 coin into the keel platesBibby Marine has laid the keel for its first electric-commissioning service operation vessel (e-CSOV), a hybrid methanol and battery-powered ship designed to support offshore wind projects. The ceremony took place at the Armon Shipyard in Vigo, Spain.

To mark the start of construction, Bibby Line Group Chief Executive Jonathan Lewis welded an 1807 coin—the year the company was founded—into the keel plates.

The vessel is scheduled to enter service in 2027 and will offer reduced emissions and fuel use. It will accommodate up to 120 personnel and support zero-emission commissioning and operations and maintenance work for up to 30 days offshore.

Project partners include Kongsberg, which will supply the dynamic positioning and main propulsion systems; Corvus Energy, the battery provider; and Wartsila, which will deliver the engine and propulsion package.
