Partrac, part of Venterra Group, has been supporting RWE on the Sofia offshore wind farm for the past two years. Since May 2023 Partrac has provided a network of metocean measurement and demarcation buoys, including Cardinal Mark and Special Mark buoys to mark the site boundary.
Wave buoys are also deployed to supply real-time environmental data used in construction planning and management. Partrac’s online client portal gives RWE and other project partners access to real-time wave and current data to assist in decision-making during the construction phase. The project is located 195 km northeast of the UK coast on Dogger Bank. It will consist of 100 Siemens Gamesa turbines, each 252 metres tall, covering an area of 593 square kilometres.
