High tariffs could hinder renewable energy progress and increase system costs in the USA and EU

A new scenario analysis by McKinsey & Company examines how changes in trade tariffs could affect the deployment of solar, wind, battery storage, transformers, and electric vehicles (EVs) in the USA and the European Union (EU) through to 2035. The study finds that moderate tariff increases would have a limited impact on clean technology adoption, particularly in the EU. However, under a sustained high-tariff scenario, the outlook becomes more challenging.
Tüv Süd to certify Vattenfall's Nordlicht offshore wind farms in German North Sea

ZX supports noise monitoring at North Logiealmond wind project

As part of the campaign, a ZX 300 wind lidar has been deployed to collect high-resolution wind data for correlation with acoustic measurements. This enables a more detailed assessment of potential noise impacts during the planning phase.

RWE and TORC demonstrate feasibility of oyster reef restoration at North Sea wind farms

RWE and The Oyster Restoration Company (TORC) have completed a feasibility study showing that large-scale native oyster reef restoration can be carried out at offshore wind farms in the North Sea. The two partners jointly developed technical assessments and deployment strategies, covering engineering, installation, and verification methods. The research was supported by RWE and conducted at TORC’s hatchery in Scotland.
Dutch government to lower 2040 offshore wind target

The Dutch government has informed Parliament that it will reduce the country’s 2040 offshore wind target from 50 GW to a range of 30–40 GW. The revised figure is part of the North Sea Wind Energy Infrastructure Plan (WIN), presented last week, and will be formalised in the updated Climate and Energy Memorandum due in September.
Gazelle Wind Power secures investment and fabrication support for Portuguese floating wind project

New York halts offshore wind transmission planning due to federal uncertainty

The New York State Public Service Commission has announced it will terminate its ongoing process for developing offshore wind transmission infrastructure, citing significant uncertainty at the federal level. The decision effectively closes the Public Policy Transmission Need (PPTN) process, which was intended to support the integration of up to 8GW of offshore wind energy into New York City’s electricity grid by 2033.
