Spain doubles wind power additions in 2024, led by Castilla y León

Spain installed 1,186 MW of new wind power capacity in 2024—nearly double the 675 MW added in 2023—bringing the country’s total to 31,679 MW. Wind generation covered 23% of national electricity demand in 2024, with total output exceeding 59,300 GWh, making wind the leading source in the electricity mix.
Invenergy and Alliance de l’énergie de l’Est close financing for PPAW 1 wind project in Quebec

Invenergy and the Alliance de l’énergie de l’Est, a consortium of 209 municipalities and territories in Eastern Quebec, have announced the closing of financing for the Pohénégamook-Picard-Saint-Antonin-Wolastokuk 1 (PPAW 1) Wind Energy Centre. The total financing secured amounts to CAD 1.1 billion.
Scotland consults on updated marine plan for offshore wind development

A consultation has opened on how offshore wind projects are planned and delivered in Scotland, following the publication of a draft update to the Sectoral Marine Plan for Offshore Wind Energy (SMP-OWE). The revised plan aims to balance environmental protection, community interests and the needs of other sea users.
American Offshore Services adds fourth vessel to G-Class fleet

American Offshore Services has announced the delivery of M/V Gamekeeper, the fourth vessel in its G-Class fleet. Built in the USA and compliant with the Jones Act, the 30-metre catamaran is now operational and will support offshore wind projects along the U.S. East Coast.
Gamekeeper is powered by four engines and fitted with Northern Offshore Services’ high-grip fender system. It has capacity for 24 passengers and is designed specifically for crew transfer operations in the USA’s offshore wind sector.

Acciona Energía starts operations at Forty Mile wind farm in Canada

Acciona Energía has commenced commercial operations at the Forty Mile Wind Farm in Alberta, Canada. The project has a total capacity of 280 MW and consists of 49 Nordex turbines, each rated at 5.7 MW and mounted on 108-metre towers.
Trianel and Deutsche Windtechnik reach agreement on long-term service partnership

Deutsche Windtechnik will provide maintenance and service for the Trianel Offshore Wind Farm Borkum I (TWB) in the North Sea. The agreement covers 40 Adwen AD5-116 wind turbines, previously known as Areva Wind M5000, with a combined capacity of 200 MW.
Vestas receives 102 MW turbine order in Argentina

Vestas has received an order for wind turbines totalling 102 MW in Argentina, which will be included in the company’s second quarter order intake for 2025. The project will use the V162-6.4 MW turbine model.

Ports de Normandie launches public consultation for new heavy-duty quay in Cherbourg

Ports de Normandie will hold a public consultation from Thursday 5 June to Friday 11 July 2025 to present and discuss a strategic infrastructure project: the construction of a new heavy-duty quay in the port of Cherbourg, known as Flamands Zero (FL0). The project aims to strengthen the port’s position as a key player in marine renewable energy, particularly fixed-bottom and floating offshore wind.
