Global sentiment in the wind industry is rising again

The latest edition of the WindEnergy trend:index indicates a modest improvement in global sentiment in the wind sector in autumn 2025, following a sharp decline in spring. The recovery remains uneven across regions, with positive developments in Asia and the Rest of World regions, continued weakening in Germany and Europe, and persistent negative sentiment in North America. A total of 387 participants took part in the survey conducted between 11 September and 11 November 2025.
Iberdrola completes sale of Hungarian wind portfolio

Iberdrola has completed the sale of its business in Hungary following regulatory approvals. The company sold 100% of the shares of Iberdrola Renovables Magyarország to a consortium formed by Premier Energy and a subsidiary of iG TECH Capital.
Fraunhofer IWES launches IWES Digital Hub platform for wind energy tools

The Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems (IWES) has launched the IWES Digital Hub, a web-based platform providing access to selected digital tools developed within wind energy research. The platform has been available since mid-January and is intended for use by industry and research organisations.

DNV completes technical due diligence for Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm

DNV has completed Vendors’ Technical Due Diligence for Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 offshore wind farm. The project is located around 160 km off the Yorkshire coast and 120 km off the Norfolk coast and is planned to include 197 Siemens Gamesa SG DD-236 wind turbines.
RWE signs power purchase agreement with Global Switch in the UK

RWE has signed an eight-year power purchase agreement with Global Switch for electricity supply from the Brechfa Forest West onshore wind farm. Under the agreement, Global Switch will use electricity from the project to supply its data centre in London’s Docklands.
Enel Group announces winning concepts in WinDesign wind turbine competition

The winners of the WinDesign international competition have been announced following an award ceremony at the MAXXI museum in Rome. The competition focused on new wind turbine concepts that combine design, technical and economic feasibility, innovation and sustainability. More than 500 entries from over 60 countries were submitted.
PJM electricity demand growth raises reliability and cost concerns

Electricity demand in the PJM Interconnection region in the USA is increasing rapidly, driven by data centres, advanced manufacturing, electrification and broader economic growth. Analysis by the American Clean Power Association indicates that, without timely deployment of new clean energy resources, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest states could face reliability risks and higher electricity costs over the next decade.
Engelhart, Gridfuse and Enercon enable onshore wind farms to provide secondary control reserve in Germany

Engelhart has begun marketing onshore wind farms equipped with Enercon wind turbines in the secondary control reserve market in the control zone of TenneT Germany. The activity started in early December 2025 and marks the first approval of an onshore wind farm pool for automatic frequency restoration reserve in the largest German control zone.

Headquartered in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Spares in Motion supports wind turbine owners and operators worldwide with the maintenance and lifetime extension of wind assets. The company sources and supplies wind turbine spare parts and critical components. Its portfolio includes new, used, repaired and refurbished parts, as well as complete wind turbines.
