Bibby Marine lays keel for hybrid methanol-powered offshore wind vessel

Bibby Marine has laid the keel for its first electric-commissioning service operation vessel (e-CSOV), a hybrid methanol and battery-powered ship designed to support offshore wind projects. The ceremony took place at the Armon Shipyard in Vigo, Spain.
RWE and TORC demonstrate feasibility of oyster reef restoration at North Sea wind farms

RWE and The Oyster Restoration Company (TORC) have completed a feasibility study showing that large-scale native oyster reef restoration can be carried out at offshore wind farms in the North Sea. The two partners jointly developed technical assessments and deployment strategies, covering engineering, installation, and verification methods. The research was supported by RWE and conducted at TORC’s hatchery in Scotland.
Dutch government to lower 2040 offshore wind target

The Dutch government has informed Parliament that it will reduce the country’s 2040 offshore wind target from 50 GW to a range of 30–40 GW. The revised figure is part of the North Sea Wind Energy Infrastructure Plan (WIN), presented last week, and will be formalised in the updated Climate and Energy Memorandum due in September.
Gazelle Wind Power secures investment and fabrication support for Portuguese floating wind project

Gazelle Wind Power, developer of floating offshore wind platform technology, has entered into a strategic agreement with Portuguese conglomerate dstgroup. In addition to the financial investment, dstgroup’s steel engineering and manufacturing subsidiary bysteel will be responsible for fabricating and constructing the modular steel structures for Gazelle’s Nau Azul project.
New York halts offshore wind transmission planning due to federal uncertainty

The New York State Public Service Commission has announced it will terminate its ongoing process for developing offshore wind transmission infrastructure, citing significant uncertainty at the federal level. The decision effectively closes the Public Policy Transmission Need (PPTN) process, which was intended to support the integration of up to 8GW of offshore wind energy into New York City’s electricity grid by 2033.
bp to sell USA onshore wind business to LS Power

bp has agreed to sell its USA onshore wind business, BP Wind Energy North America, to LS Power. Following completion, the business will be integrated into LS Power’s portfolio company Clearlight Energy, increasing its total operating fleet to approximately 4.3GW.

Nexans develops cable prototype using 100% recycled materials

Nexans has developed a prototype electrical cable made entirely from recycled materials. The wire drawing process was carried out by Nexans staff in Yanggu, China, with extrusion work completed by the materials department in France. Final assembly of the 3G2.5 cable took place at the Technocenter Building laboratory in AmpaCity, Lyon.
Global Maritime to support Iberdrola’s Saint-Brieuc offshore wind farm
