PGE has secured a two-sided contract for difference in Poland’s first offshore wind auction for its Baltica 9 project. The 975 MW Baltica 9 offshore wind farm is located in the western part of the Słupsk Bank, within basin 44.E.1, one of five areas awarded to PGE in 2023.
The project will cover around 121 square kilometres and is situated about 48 kilometres from the coast, within operational reach of PGE’s operations and maintenance base in Ustka. Baltica 9 has obtained preliminary grid connection conditions, completed two-dimensional ultra-high resolution seismic geophysical surveys, and is finalising an initial geotechnical campaign.
In parallel, PGE has signed a conditional agreement with RWE for the sale of RWE Offshore Wind Poland, which holds the neighbouring FEW Baltic II project with a capacity of about 350 MW. Combined, the two projects would form an offshore wind development with a total capacity of around 1.3 GW, currently referred to as Baltica 9+.
